In July of 2019 I suffered a stroke that affected the left side of my body. It has been a long, tedious process to restore my vitality and energy. I went to physical therapy for about six months and then got a membership at a local gym and hired a trainer. That was not very fun.
I have always enjoyed riding a bicycle but it was so painful sitting on those darn seats. Each time I would attempt to go for a ride after about 15 minutes I would have to get off and rest. I almost felt faint. It was a very frustrating time.
I decided to go to my local bike shop to see if they had a recumbent bike and they referred me to Triot.
The Rasmussens were very cordial and invited me to try one of their recumbent trikes. I immediately knew that this was something that I could do and was excited to have a trike built for me. This has changed my life. I am riding about 100 miles a week. I am feeling better than I have felt since the stroke. It has been a life changing experience.
I am enjoying the ability to have different levels of motor assist according to how I am feeling and the terrain.
Prior to the purchase I investigated different brands of recumbent trikes. The Triot best met my needs and expectations. My grandkids think I'm a rock star.
Thanks for a great ride.
A satisfied customer.

I was a thousand feet below ground, pedaling my way through the 1.6 mile St. Paul Pass (Taft) Tunnel in the Bitterroot Mountains. I was in complete darkness, except for the light from my trike's headlights. I was cold, wet, and muddy. It was awesome.
The day hadn't started out awesome. For months, my husband had planned our trip to the Route of the Hiawatha rail trail. He was excited. I, on the other hand, was exhausted. I have rheumatoid arthritis [and] wanted nothing more than to drive to a local hotel and sleep for a week. By the time we got to the trailhead, I was not a happy camper. There was a ray of hope, though. We had been loaned two Triot Bosch electric trikes for the trip.
I had expected that by the time we got back to the top of the Hiawatha, two things would have happened. The first was that I'd be exhausted. I wasn't. My second expectation was that I'd return to the car aching from being beat half to death from spending the day bouncing over a dirt trail. Again, I didn't. The Triot is built for comfort. Also, the Triot's full, independent suspension really smoothed out the trail. The Triot was very stable. It's tires stuck to the ground even if I took a corner hard at speed, (which I have to admit, was a lot fun).
As my husband loaded up our gear and the trikes, he kept up a running litany of the other trails he wanted us to ride before we made our way back home. The day before, just listening to him would have left me apprehensive and exhausted, but now it was different. I had ridden the Hiawatha and enjoyed it. Spending the next two weeks riding trikes in the Pacific Northwest instead of dealing with work, life, and kids sounded like a whole lot of fun. As it turned out, it was.

I love to ride recumbent bikes and trikes. It's a great way to get exercise and enjoy the outdoors at the same time. One of the few things I love more is riding recumbents with my wife, Cassie. Because of the differences in our physical abilities, the only way we can ride together for any length of time is if she rides a trike with an electric assist. Cassie's trike does not have electric assist, so when we planned a trip to Idaho for the annual Tater TOT rally, we assumed she would go on fewer rides and for shorter distances. Luckily for us, we got a call from Triot's Martin Rasmussen, asking if we'd review two of his fully loaded Bosch electric assist-equipped trikes. Score! We quickly agreed and started making plans for a much different trip.
The electric assist was an incredible equalizer that allowed my wife and I to ride together. With the electric assist, we were able to cruise along together at 15-18 mph, riding side by side, and we able to hold a conversation without being out of breath.
My wife and I had intended to do a 35-mile ride, which was at about the end of her endurance level. By mistake, we headed the wrong direction on the trail from our starting point. We had ridden eight miles by the time we realized we were going the wrong way. We backtracked, then continued with the originally planned ride. This meant we ended up riding over 50 miles, but thanks to the electric assist, we enjoyed everry bit of it and were not wiped out by the end.
All in all, the use fo the Triot Electric Bosch trikes made our trip to Idaho very enjoyable. They let us do things we couldn't have done without them.
While there are many very fine recumbent trikes with electric assist to choose from, the Triot is at the top of our list.
