Bosch eBike Drive Unit & Battery Overview

The first video is a few years old but is a good overview of the Bosch motor.  Triot uses the Performance Line motors (CX and Speed).  The Active line motors are a little underpowered for our application.

​The second video is also a few years old but the information is accurate.  Triot uses the 500Wh PowerPack standard on all of our trikes.  You also have the option of upgrading to the DualBattery option, for a total of 1,000Wh of power.

Nuvinci Harmony HSync Explanation

The first video is a great visual explanation of how the Harmony HSync system works and what it does for you.

The second video shows how the Nuvinci HSync integrates with the Bosch system.  Triot is using the all new Bosch Kiox display, not shown in this video, which functions similarly to what is explained here.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT CONFIGURATION FOR YOU

How do you know which combination of motor and hub will work best for your needs? 

Let's start with the Bosch drives.  All Triot models use the Performance Line series of motors from Bosch.  These are Bosch's most powerful motors.  You have your choice of the CX motor or the Speed motor. 

Bosch CX Drive

• Great for all applications
• Superb motor for hilly terrain
• Very smooth and sporty feel
• Only assists up to 20 mph
• Motor assists well at slower and faster pedaling cadences
• More details

​Bosch Speed Drive

• Made for speed, assists up to 28 mph
• Excellent for smooth flat terrain
• Not great for hilly terrain
• Consumes more battery than the CX drive
• Motor works best when pedaled at a faster cadence
• More details

On to the rear hub and shifting.  You have a choice between the Rohloff E-14 and Nuvinci Automatic.  Both systems have been designed in coordination with Bosch and are integrated into the Bosch system.  This means that both systems work seamlessly with your Bosch motor to shift easily and at the optimal time, something that is very important with electric assist systems.
